Omaha had a big snowstorm in October, 1997, that brought down lots of branches. Oak Street in front of the prior Haskell house looked like this (we moved in June, 1998 to our present location):

The street was blocked by downed branches. Since the leaves had not completed falling from the trees, the snow weighed more than normal on the branches which caused them to break. Most of Omaha was without electrical power, but we were lucky. Two of Tom's co-workers were without power for almost a week.
