Stopped near Eugene to visit friends -- pictured -- Tom Haskell and Wendy & Don Fast
With my brother Ted we journeyed along the north side of the Columbia River Gorge (Washington side). In the distance is Castle Rock which we climbed. Also visible in the center of the river is a barge towing a trail of logs. Following our climb we ate lunch in Carson after walking along the Wind River bridge.
The Columbia River is one of the best wind surfing areas in the country. This site is across the river from Hood River, Oregon.
We arrived in Portland at the end of the rose festival. The blooms were still pretty spectacular.
The variety of blooms was marvelous.
No thorns here. As always a trip to Oregon has its delights.
